The Spice Girls Are Over, Victoria Beckham Confirms
Are you a fan of the Spice Girls? If so, you might have been waiting with bated breath about the news of a reunion after they closed out the London Summer Olympics in 2012. For months prior there were rumors that the group would reunite, and those rumors weren’t too far off. The Spice Girls did have a short reunion tour a few years prior.
In addition the Spice Girls reunited in December of 2012 to promote their musical Viva Forever: The Musical at the West End theater. However, that was the last time we saw the girls together, and it looks like that might have been the Spice Girls final bow.
With multiple talks of reunion news, the only thing that seemed to be constant was Victoria Beckham’s reluctance. Now David Beckham’s wife is setting the record straight, and if you don’t take her words with a grain of salt, then it’s apparent that the days of a Spice Girls reunion are long gone.
According to Victoria, simply known as Posh Spice, fell out of love with the band.
“I realized it was finished for good in 2008, when we reformed for our reunion tour. The day of the concert at Madison Square Gardens in New York, the other girls spent time relaxing in bed, shopping and in the gym before heading off to the sound check. I arrived with three kids in tow in a really tight dress because I’d been in meetings all day.”
Beckham continued to discuss the end of the Spice Girls, and noted that she was missing the passion from the group, which was something she had in 1997 at the height of the Spice Girls fame.
“I put my bags and the children down, I picked up the mic and I sung. It should have been the best moment of my life, but I just wanted to be elsewhere. It wasn’t a lack of respect for the girls or the audience, but the passion just wasn’t there. By contrast, in my new career, the passion grows every year. I still want more.”
Currently Victoria is known for her fashion career and for being a television personality on shows like Project Runway, Topmodel and American Idol.
