Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are the latest celebrity couple facing separation rumors.

Since folks apparently have nothing better to do than to cook up reports about floundering relationships, the singer and the comedian recently found themselves in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux can surely relate.

According to RumorFix, the latest batch of Mariah Carey-related gossip arrives courtesy of Star magazine. The publication reports that both Carey and Nick Cannon aren’t interested in saving their marriage. Sources suggest that things are “falling apart” behind the scenes.

“Amid rumors of her cheating and him checking out of the relationship, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s five-year union is in jeopardy,” the tabloid reported.

Sources reportedly told Star:

“Mariah and Nick’s marriage is hanging by a thread. Neither of them shows much interest in working through their problems. They barely see each other anymore and are basically living across the country from each other. Mariah is under enormous stress, trying to finish her new album, and Nick isn’t supportive. She’s ready to ditch him… The only thing holding them together right now is their shared love of their son and daughter. But Mariah and Nick’s marriage may well be past the point of saving.”

A representative for Mariah Carey told both RumorFix and Gossip Cop that the rumors of their crumbling marriage are completely false. Instead of crying in your gravy this Thanksgiving, you can celebrate without worry about your favorite celebrity couple.

Rumors about their relationship problems may have started during a radio interview Mariah Carey gave not too long ago. In addition to discussing their living situation — Cannon works in Los Angeles, but Carey loves New York — she took a moment to express her displeasure with the America’s Got Talent host’s stand-up routine.

“In his world, he feels, in the world of comedy, that he can have license to say things that he wants to say. But if it goes too far, that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna say, ‘Check please,'” Carey explained during her recent chat.

She continued, “I can’t tell him don’t talk about this or that. But for me, I look at certain relationships in the public eye, and I think, ‘See that’s class, when you don’t have to talk about that relationship that much.’ I’d much prefer that he silencio, just a little bit.”
