It looks like Lady Gaga needs a little more Kermit the Frog in her life.
After wearing the famous frog a few years ago, Lady Gaga is going to be spending a little more traditional time with Kermit and his fellow Muppets this Thanksgiving. It’s all a part of the Lady Gaga & The Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular , which will air post-turkey this Thursday at 9:30 on ABC . No offense, but it sure looks like the Muppets are trading up ( sorry, Jason Segel ).
Lady Gaga gave fans a sneak peak on her Instagram account Tuesday: a video of her singing her hit “Applause” with Kermit, Miss Piggy and the gang dancing along.
“I was so excited when ABC called me about doing a holiday special this year,” said Lady Gaga via ABC’s promotional release. “I knew it just wouldn’t be a complete night of laughter and memories without The Muppets! Can’t wait to see the gang again and I hope Miss Piggy’s still not mad about Kermit. We’re just friends!”
“What an incredible opportunity!” said Kermit the Frog. “We have a long history with Ms. Gaga, so we jumped at the chance to do a holiday special with her. We won’t even mind if she mistakes some of the Muppets for pieces of her wardrobe—again.”
As Kermit said, this won’t be Lady Gaga’s first go-’round the Muppets (nor will it be the last); she filmed a cameo for The Muppets movie that had to be cut for length restrictions. The special is also going to feature a preview of 2014’s Muppets Most Wanted , which will feature Lady Gaga, Elton John, Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and a host of other cameos.
It’s a bold move for the Muppets, bringing Lady Gaga on board. It seems likely to inspire as much controversy as Katy Perry’s bouncing breasts did on Sesame Street a few years ago, but we’ll just have to wait and see what Lady Gaga has in store for us this Thanksgiving. The smart money says the show will feature Lady Gaga in a turkey suit at some point, but hopefully it won’t be made out of really turkeys.
What do you think about Lady Gaga working with the Muppets? Will you be watching Lady Gaga or football this Thanksgiving?
