XBox One Sells 1 Million Consoles On First Day
Xbox One has only been on the market for one day and has already sold more than 1 million units according to Microsoft Corp.. The new Xbox One console has been released on thirteen different countries. Sony Corp. recently released the Playstation 4 in many more countries and sold about the same amount of units according to the Huffington Post.
Microsoft Corp. said in a statement that the current Xbox One Console has surpassed any of its predecessors in first day sales and is on target to be the best selling game console ever. Most retail outlets announced they were completely sold out of Xbox One consoles and hoped to have more in time for Black Friday.
Sony said it sold 1 million PS4 units in 24 hours after launching last Friday in just the United States and Canada. The PS4 expands to other regions, including Europe, Australia and South America, from November 29. It then hits Japan in February.
Microsoft says they don’t just plan on taking on Sony with the new console, but manage to further penetrate a fan base of music lovers and TV fans with the Xbox One’s new entertainment features and robust media apps.
Yusuf Medhi, corporate vice president of marketing and strategy at Xbox, said ina statement:
“We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles”.
Robert W. Baird & Co analyst Colin Sebastian has said he expects shipments of 2.5 million to 3 million units for both the Xbox One and PS4 in the fourth quarter.
Both the PS4, priced at $399 in the United States, and the Xbox One, with a price tag of $499 are expected to be the biggest movers this holiday season of any consumer electronic.
