Ariana Grande To Perform At The American Music Awards
Ariana Grande is among the plethora of popular recording artists currently slated to appear at this year’s American Music Awards.
The 20-year-old Florida native will perform a two-song medley at the upcoming musical event. The event airs live this Sunday (November 24) on ABC.
According to the folks at Billboard, Ariana Grande isn’t the only last-minute addition to the awards ceremony. Singer and The Voice alum Christina Aguilera will sing a duet with A Great Big World. The website reports that they will team up for the tune “Say Something.”
Of course, Grande, Aguilera, and AGBW aren’t the only artists scheduled to do their thing at the American Music Awards this weekend. Included on this year’s roster are Jennifer Lopez, TLC, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, One Direction, Florida Georgia Line, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Imagine Dragons. Pitbull will host and perform a song with Ke$ha.
“The show goes from intimacy to gigantic production numbers,” producer Larry Klein explained.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, votes from fans will ultimately determine the outcome. Social media buffs can also cast votes for their favorite artists on Twitter for the very first time.
When she isn’t performing medleys on network television awards programs, Ariana Grande is coming to the defense of troubled pop star Justin Bieber. Although everyone wants to take a shot at the guy these days, Grande is one of the few who have stuck their neck out for the “Boyfriend” singer.
“He can do whatever he wants. He’s doing the same thing as every other boy in the world right now. He’s just under a microscope and he’s being scrutinized by people who don’t know him. I know him and he’s a good person. He really is. He’s a nice person,” Grande explained during a recent interview.
She added, “He’s a good guy, and he doesn’t deserve what he’s going through.”
Ariana Grande also had this to say about Miley Cyrus:
“She’s an adult. She can do whatever the hell she wants, honestly. And she looks amazing. Like, she looks gorgeous, she looks stunning. And she’s having so much fun. If her choices aren’t for you, don’t look at it. Like, move on. Like, talk about something else, worry about bettering your life, not hers. Cause she’s fine, her life is the best it could be right now, you know. That’s what bothers me about people and about society,” she went on. “Like, shut up. Like, shut up.”
