Charles Manson’s Girlfriend Discusses Marriage

Charles Manson’s girlfriend has campaigned for his freedom for years. The 25-year-old woman, nicknamed Star, is now ready to marry the convicted killer.

Manson is notorious for his role in the murders of Sharon Tate, Leno LaBianca, and Rosemary LaBianca. Although he did not participate in the killings, he convinced members of his “Family” to commit the crimes.

A self-proclaimed guru, Manson gathered numerous followers and called them his Family. His philosophy included an unusual mixture of Scientology, hippie culture, and his own beliefs.

Throughout the 1960s, Manson and his Family drifted throughout the southwest, often occupying abandoned homes and ranches. By the end of the 1960s, the guru became obsessed with the possibility of an apocalypse.

He convinced members of his family that the apocalypse would include an ultimate battle between the races. He predicted that the battle would eventually lead to the destruction of all Caucasians, leaving Manson and his family in control of the blacks. Using the name of a popular Beatles song, Charles Manson called the expected battle “Helter Skelter.”

On August 9, 1969, Charles Manson ordered four of his followers to a home occupied by Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski. He told them that it was time for Helter Skelter to begin.

As reported by Biography.com, the Family members entered the home and brutally murdered actress Sharon Tate, writer Wojciech Frykowski, heiress Abigail Folger, hairstylist Jay Sebring, and student Steven Parent.

The following night, Manson accompanied six of his Family members to the home of supermarket executive Leno LeBianca to continue the rampage.

Although the guru did not actively participate in any of the murders, he was charged with murder and conspiracy. Under California law, he was responsible as he ordered the murders. Manson was initially sentenced to death, but the sentence was eventually reduced to life in prison.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Charles Manson’s girlfriend said she does not agree with the sentence. She founded a website to plead for his release. Additionally, she said she is planning to marry the self-proclaimed guru:

“I’ll tell you straight up, Charlie and I are going to get married… When that will be, we don’t know. But I take it very seriously. Charlie is my husband. Charlie told me to tell you this. We haven’t told anybody about that.”

Despite her assertion, Manson said he has no plans to marry Star:

“That’s a bunch of garbage. You know that, man. That’s trash. We’re just playing that for public consumption.”

Charles Manson’s girlfriend is convinced that she and her love will be married. However, it seems that the convicted felon has different plans. With conflicting stories, it is difficult to tell how the couple plans to proceed with their future.
