‘Man Of Steel 2’ Rumor Control: Adam Driver Shoots Down Nightwing Rumor
Is Adam Driver playing Nightwing in Man of Steel 2? According to the Girls star, there’s currently no truth to these rumors.
Reports surfaced last week that the actor was in talks to star as the superhero in director Zack Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman. However, Driver recently revealed that he hasn’t heard anything about the role just yet.
“No. Not that I know of, no. If you find out, let me know, then I’ll know,” Driver told Collider.
He continued, “That’s like intensely flattering as you can imagine. I mean, it’s Batman and Superman, who doesn’t want to be involved in something not only of that scale but of who those characters are. That’s an incredible world to be able to be in for a bit. Like who wouldn’t want to do that?”
The Wrap originally reported that Adam Driver was up for the role of Nightwing in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. The website also mentioned that two other actor were also up for the part.
According to AceShowbiz, Perks of Being a Wallflower star Ezra Miller and Gossip Girl alum Penn Badgley were also in consideration for Batman vs. Superman. Since no one associated with the flick has weighed in on the matter, it’s probably best to tread lightly with these unconfirmed reports.
Word on the street suggests that everyone from Wonder Woman to The Flash to Green Arrow could appear in Man of Steel 2. The Inquisitr previously reported that The Assassin Next Door star Olga Kurylenko recently tested for the role of Wonder Woman. Again, this rumor wasn’t confirmed by anyone close to the movie.
So what do we know for certain at this stage in the game? Ben Affleck is officially on-board as Batman and Man of Steel star Henry Cavill is back as Superman. Other than that, fans shouldn’t put too much faith into any casting details they stumble across online.
Folks who thoroughly enjoyed Snyder’s summer blockbuster wondered if Lex Luthor would somehow fit into the upcoming sequel. Although he hasn’t said one way or the other about Luthor’s involvement, the filmmaker mentioned the iconic villain earlier this month during a Yahoo! Movies Q&A session. This was apparently enough to get tongues wagging.
“Lex loves calling [Superman] an alien. I like that,” Snyder said.
What do you think about all of the Man of Steel 2 rumors making the rounds these days? Are you disappointed that Adam Driver may not star as Nightwing in the sequel?
