According to Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder, the iconic superheroes will definitely square off against one another in the upcoming sequel.
Since the follow-up has “versus” in the title, it’s not altogether surprising that Superman and Batman will knock each other around at some point during the movie. While promoting the Blu-ray release of Man of Steel at a recent fan event, Snyder gave those in attendance a few details about the superheroes’ relationship.
“The fun of the idea is to be able to play with that relationship. Whether they fight and become friends, or whether they’re friends and they fight. Of course, some physical conflicts [will be involved],” the filmmaker explained during the vent.
The Hollywood Reporter explains that Zack Snyder teased Lex Luthor’s involvement with Batman vs. Superman . While he didn’t come right out and say that the villain would play a role in the story, his comments suggest that the character could pop up in the flick.
“Lex loves calling him an alien,” Snyder said.
Rumors about Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel have made the rounds online as of late. In addition to reports that Girls star Adam Driver is in talks to portray Nightwing in the follow-up, reports indicate that Warner Bros. is currently on the prowl for someone to tackle the role of Wonder Woman.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Oblivion star Olga Kurylenko tested for the role of the iconic superhero. However, it’s believed that a few other actresses are also up for the part as well. Neither Zack Snyder nor Warner Bros. have confirmed these rumors just yet.
Trying to get any specific details out of the filmmaker is next to impossible at the moment. Fans were extremely eager to pick his brain after Ben Affleck was famously cast as Batman in Man of Steel 2 . The Argo director discussed his involvement with the flick during an interview with 411Mania back in October.
Affleck explained:
” Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn’t fit the traditional mold but once [Zack Snyder] showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris and Christian made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it’s the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack’s vision.”
