Britney Spears Could Be Vegas’ Next Celine Dion [Residency Talk]

Britney Spears’ new album Femme Fatale is headed towards the number one sales spot in 2011 and the pop superstar will soon head out on her Femme Fatale Summer Tour, but if Vegas officials have their way she’ll soon be spending a majority of her time in Las Vegas.

Last week Britney Spears gave a surprise show at The Palms Las Vegas resort and according to various reports the singer is now being courted by different casinos on the Strip to perform a resident show.

The deal, if it occurs could be very lucrative, according to a Spears insider:

“Vegas moguls are holding meetings to secure Britney for a permanent show,” while adding, “If she performed in Vegas on a regular basis, it would attract loads of fans to the city. She’d bring in so much revenue. There’s no doubt she would be offered at least as much as country star Garth Brooks, who signed a $100 million deal and has been selling out shows in Vegas since 2009. Britney would be an even bigger draw.”

The deal wouldn’t be secured until Spears finishes her upcoming tour and the cost for grabbing Britney according to some analysts could be as much if not more than Garth Brooks who signed a $100 million deal with the Wynn resort in 2009.

According to Billboard, Spears’ new CD is expected to take the top spot on the Billboard 200 next week with 280,000 copies expected to be sold by April 3. If she does secure the top spot next week she’ll be in a special class of No. 1 female debut albums that currently only features Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson.
