Homoerotic ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Poster Used To Promote The Sequel In China [Photo]
Thor: The Dark World is presently on its way to theaters in China. Unfortunately for some moviegoers, the sequel might be a little different from the one the lobby poster suggests.
Although the fan-made poster for director Alan Taylor’s highly-anticipated sequel finds Thor and Loki locked in a loving embrace, chances are this scene won’t play out on the big screen. According to The Atlantic, a theater in Shanghai recently displayed some unofficial artwork that gives the movie an unexpected homoerotic edge.
A photo of the poster in question recently showed up on a Korean website. The image in question was later removed, but not before it foun new life on Reddit. If you’re curious to see what all the fuss is about, then direct your attention to the artwork below.
While the superhero and his arch-enemy join forces in Thor: The Dark World, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll get this close while battling a legion of villainous dark elves. Still, there’s probably a significant portion of the population who wouldn’t mind seeing Thor and Loki finally address their undying passion for one another.
Here’s what the movie is actually about:
“Marvel’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’ continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s ‘Thor’ and ‘Marvel’s The Avengers,’ Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos… but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.”
If you need further proof that Thor and Loki aren’t going to share their secret love with the world when the flick arrives in theaters on November 8, then you should seriously consider checking out the trailer below. Hopefully this fan-made poster doesn’t contain the enormous spoiler Marvel was trying to keep under wraps.
Finally, here’s the aforementioned homoerotic poster for Thor: The Dark World. Don’t bother looking for this artwork in the lobby of your local neighborhood multiplex. Unless you happen to live in or around this theater in Shanghai, that is.
What do you think about the very peculiar fan-made Thor: The Dark World poster that was recently used to promote Alan Taylor’s sequel in at least one theater in China?
