Marathon Jesus In NYC Marathon 2013 Running For Boston Marathon Bombing Victims
A marathon Jesus was spotted running the 2013 NYC Marathon for a good cause.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, a tattooed Jesus and a new Jesus statue have been controversial.
But you can’t beat one Bible scholar who claims Jesus was a cover Messiah, claiming Jesus was actually made up entirely by the Romans as a form of alternative warfare. But, hey, at least he didn’t forget how to spell Jesus’ name like the Catholic Church.
Because the New York City marathon occurs right after Halloween a lot of people tend to dress up in costume. But Marathon Jesus lit up the social media with his cross-bearing antics.
Witnesses say they saw Marathon Jesus running barefoot through Boston wearing an almost full-size cardboard cross strapped to his back. His NYC Marathon number, 55-970, was attached to the top of the cross.
Most people seemed to assume it was a joke although apparently Marathon Jesus does not see it that way. Marathon Jesus’ name is really Makoto Takeuchi from Chiba, Japan. Another sign on his back explains his motive, saying he was running for the Boston Marathon bombing victims.
Unfortunately, some NYPD cops did question Marathon Jesus’ motive. When Takeuchi passed a large synagogue local cops pulled him aside for a while but he wasn’t arrested or charged with anything.
One report claims Marathon Jesus did not cross the finish line at the 2013 New York City Marathon. But Takeuchi did complete 10 of the NYC Marathon’s 26.2 miles at a pace of 11 minutes per mile, which is not bad when you’re bare-footed and have a large cross strapped to your back.
It’s also possible this particular Marathon Jesus ran in the 2012 Tokyo Marathon according to YouTube videos:
