Dolly Parton loves her goddaughter no matter what she’s doing on-stage or in music videos. In the country singer’s humble opinion, the former Hannah Montana star clearly doesn’t need her advice on how to make it in the business.
The “I Will Always Love You” singer was recently asked to comment on Cyrus’ controversial behavior during an interview with Radio One . Although they were probably hoping for some juicy bits of wisdom from Parton, she had nothing but positive things to say.
“You’ll never hear me say anything bad about Miley. I wish her all the best,” Dolly Parton explained.
Although everyone seems more than willing to tell Cyrus what she should and shouldn’t do with her career and her life, the country music icon doesn’t intend to preach to the 20-year-old anytime soon. Since Parton never wanted any advice, she doesn’t plan to play the role of a hypocrite.
“Miley doesn’t need me. She’ll do it right on her own. I love her, and I hope she does great. I love her to bits. I know she’s made some extreme moves. I know she had to prove her point. I think she’s trying very hard to make her spot. She’s made her point and found her place and more power to her,” the singer said.
Dolly Parton added, “People just have to let her get on with her life and do her music the way she wants to. Hopefully, she’ll make wise choices. I hope she can just pull back and enjoy her music.”
Just because Parton isn’t going to say anything bad about her goddaughter doesn’t mean she’s not willing to have some light-hearted laughs at her expense. The Inquisitr previously reported that Parton lampooned Cyrus during her appearance on The Queen Latifah Show .
“Hey Miley, I’ve got your wrecking balls right here,” Parton rapped during her appearance on the talk show. “I know the Queen has got ’em too but she don’t work ’em like I do.”
If Dolly Parton rapping about Miley Cyrus sounds a little too far-fetched, then take a look at the video embedded below. It’s bizarre, yes, but what else do you expect from the country singer these days? She does precisely what she wants to do.
