Katy Perry On Miley Cyrus: ‘She’s Just Living Her Life’
Katy Perry is probably more than a little tired of discussing her feud with Lady Gaga and the controversial misadventures of fellow pop star Miley Cyrus.
When she isn’t discussing her relationship with musician John Mayer, the “Roar” singer is addressing the ins and outs of the music industry. During her recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Perry addressed Cyrus’ inability to stay clothed and keep her tongue in her face. In short: Cyrus is young so get over it.
“She’s what, 19 or 20? She’s just living her life. She’s super young, and there’s no directing book on how to do this. Each of us find our own way, and some of us make it out alive and some of us don’t. I mean, Madonna was naked,” the singer explained.
Katy Perry added, “The thing is, people come to me and ask me, out of default, what I think about all these girls, but at the end of it all I shouldn’t be considered the behavior police, because I’m not always going to be on my best behavior!”
This isn’t the first time the singer has addressed the nakedness that seems to follow female pop stars around these days. The Inquisitr previously reported that Perry thinks that some of them should seriously consider covering up every once in a while.
“I do see myself becoming this, whatever, inspiration out of default right now because it’s such a strange world. Like females in pop — everybody’s getting naked. I mean, I’ve been naked before, but I don’t feel like I have to always get naked to be noticed. But it’s interesting to see,” recently explained to NPR.
Although everyone and their grandmother thought Katy Perry was talking about Miley Cyrus at the time, she explained that she wasn’t singling out any particular artist. Instead, she wanted female pop stars to start covering themselves up as a whole.
“I’m not necessarily judging. I’m just saying sometimes it’s nice to play that card but also it’s nice to play other cards. And I know I have that sexy card in my deck but I don’t always have to use that card,” the singer said.
As for her feud with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry is ready to put that stuff in the past.
“Gaga and I like to publicly dismiss it because it’s not healthy. You want to feel music. You want it to resonate and relate to you. You can’t look at it like a competition because you ruin the reason why you love music. But I think that sometimes our fan groups are so big and strong, they use it as ammunition,” she told EW.
Do you agree with Katy Perry that Miley Cyrus is “just living her life”?
