Giovani Bernard Injury: Bengals RB Not Expected To Miss Any Games
Giovani Bernard impressed a lot of people on Thursday night with a 35-yard touchdown against the Miami Dolphins. Some people are even calling it the run of the year. Which is why Bengals fans were a little worried to see the rookie standing on the sidelines during overtime.
Bernard injured his ribs in the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game and wasn’t able to play during overtime. He did stay on the sidelines in uniform, but he never went back on the field.
The good news is that quarter is probably the only one that Bernard is going to miss.
NFL Media columnist Michael Silver said that Bernard was “OK” after the game, and the Bengals said that Bernard isn’t expected to miss “an extended period of time.”
That sounds like he’ll be back next Sunday.
And the team could definitely use Giovani Bernard. I mean, let’s just take a look at that 35-yard run last night.
35 yards isn’t that long for a touchdown run, but Bernard didn’t exactly take a direct route to the end zone. The rookie running back touched both sidelines before crossing the goal line with a stylish flip.
Despite Giovani Bernard’s impressive performance on Thursday night, the team lost 22-20 to the Miami Dolphins. Hopefully Bernard can come back healthy next week and add another nomination for greatest run of the year.
