Brooklyn Beckham Trains With Manchester United, Could Follow In David’s Footsteps
Brooklyn Beckham has trained with Manchester United, the club where his father, David Beckham, began his career as part of the team’s infamous youth team, which was later labelled Fergie’s Fledglings, and helped to kick start the Red Devil’s long period of unprecedented success.
The 14-year-old spent several days playing with fellow United youngsters, and he even took part in a practice game on Thursday, however it is believed that he won’t be offered a deal to feature at the club.
Brooklyn is the oldest of David’s four children, and he was even joined by his father at Manchester United’ training ground in Carrington.
Brooklyn didn’t take technically take part in a trial in Manchester, and it is believed that he will take part in more training sessions before the club finally makes a decision on whether to make him a part of their academy.
Manchester United have been quizzed on Brooklyn’s presence at the club, and in his weekly news conference, the side’s manager, David Moyes, was even questioned on the matter.
Moyes responded, “We don’t talk about young players. You don’t ask me about any other young players so you wouldn’t expect me to answer that, would you?”
Previously, he had taken part in trials at Chelsea, in January, and he also featured at Queens Park Rangers’ academy, where he played alongside former England midfielder’s Dennis Wise’s son.
Romeo Beckham, Brooklyn’s younger son, also trained with Arsenal’s youth academy too.
Brooklyn Beckham has previously spoken of his desire to follow in his father’s footsteps and play football professionally. Various bookmakers have even offered 12-1 odds that Brooklyn will eventually play for the English national side.
David even addressed this issue earlier this year, stating, “As a parent, you always worry: ‘Have they got the hunger that I had as a kid?’ I’m as hard on my boys as my dad was. They always ask, ‘Did I play well?’ I’ll say, ‘You did all right, could have done better’.”
Brooklyn Beckham has actually scored on the Old Trafford pitch before, when he was aged just one, after Manchester United celebrated winning the Premier League title in 2001. You can see footage of his effort below:
Beckham senior has always had a strong affinity with Manchester United, even though his relationship with the club’s previous manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, ended poorly.
He returned to compete against the club while playing for AC Milan in 2010, and he was rapturously received by the Old Trafford faithful, who even chanted his name despite the fact that he as playing for the opposition. You can check out a video of the incident below:
