Production on the upcoming action flick The Expendables 3 has officially wrapped production. To celebrate the occasion, the folks behind the star-studded sequel recently released a teaser poster online.
As far as teaser posters go, this one is a little light on substance. Although it’s nice to have something new to chew on while we wait for some sort of trailer, the artwork you see below is a little less than impressive. Unless you like generic text featuring cliche macho bravado, you’ll probably walk away wanting more.
“Never send a boy to do a man’s job,” the Expendables 3 poster reads.
Now that production on the sequel is officially complete, Red Hill director Patrick Hughes can begin putting all of the cinematic pieces together in the editing room. Lionsgate hopes to have the movie in the can and ready to roll by next summer. Hughes still has plenty of time to get things cooking.
Although plot details are few and far between at the moment, fans already know that The Expendables 3 features our heroes battling a sinister villain played by Mel Gibson. To accomplish their mission, the guys enlist the help of some younger talent. As long as stuff blows up, moviegoers will certainly cheer.
If you’re looking forward to The Expendables 3 but feel the movie could use a few more ladies, then you’re in luck. Producer Avi Lerner recently revealed that he’s still extremely interested in getting an all-female version of the series off the ground.
The working title: The ExpendaBelles .
Not only is Lerner interested in getting Cameron Diaz and Milla Jovovich on-board, the producer also wants to cast award-winning actress Meryl Streep in the movie. However, it’s unclear which of these ladies will decide to take part in the Expendables spin-off.
The Expendables 3 producer recently explained:
“The action movie will be spectacular — and in nothing inferior to the three male movies of the The Expendables. There will be battles, special and visual effects and stunts — the spectacle will be equivalent to what Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis and Jean-Claude Van Damme have done. Two excellent screenwriters are already working on the picture. Now we are in search of a female director.”
The tiny teaser poster for the sequel lies below.
Director Patrick Hughes’ The Expendables 3 should hit theaters on August 14, 2014. Hopefully we’ll get some sort of teaser trailer before the end of the year. Are you looking forward to the next installment of the action-packed series?
