Eminem Releases ‘The Monster’ With Rihanna
Eminem has already made it clear that he’s a “Rap God” but apparently Marshall Mathers is also a monster. The singer released his new single, “The Monster,” today from his upcoming album The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
The new song features some vocals from Rihanna. The singer, who teamed up with Eminem for the hit song “Love the Way You Lie,” opens the new track singing: “I’m friends with the monster that’s under my bed / Get a long with the voices inside of my head / You trying to save me, stop holding your breath / And you think I’m crazy, well that’s nothing.”
“The Monster” has a bit of a pop vibe but Eminem’s lyrics should be familiar to fans. The singer raps about his success and his struggle to get a grip on fame.
Eminem sings: “I wanted the fame, but not the cover of Newsweek / Oh well, guess beggers can’t be choosy / Wanted to receive attention for my music / Wanted to be left alone, public excuse me / Been wanting my cake, I need it too, wanting it both ways.”
Eminem touched on the same subject on his highly praised “Rap God” earlier this month. “Rap God” may be the fan favorite off of Marshall Mathers LP 2 but the pop appeal of “The Monster” could make this the biggest track from the singer’s new album.
Here’s “The Monster.”
