Christina Ricci Marries James Heerdegen
Christina Ricci married James Heerdegen in New York Saturday.
Ricci and Heerdegen married in an intimate ceremony at Manhattan’s Harold Pratt House and Peterson Hall, which is the headquarters for the Council on Foreign Relations. According to People, Ricci wore a Givenchy haute couture wedding gown in white silk tulle with a Chantilly lace appliqué, satin piping, and micro pearl embroidery and a white tulle veil with a matching Chantilly lace appliqué.
The couple met on the set of ABC’s Pan-Am and announced their engagement in February, although they had been engaged since late 2012. Ricci starred as Maggie Ryan, and Heerdegen worked as a dolly grip. The series ran for 14 episodes before being canceled on February 19, 2012.
In May, Sony had conversations with Amazon about picking up the series for a second season. However, the two companies were unable to reach a deal and Pan-Am officially ended on June 20. During its brief run, it won Best Series at the Rose d’Or TV awards, Europe’s equivalent of the Emmys.
“Getting to say ‘fiancé’ instead of ‘boyfriend [is my favorite thing,” Ricci told People in July. “People take you so much more seriously once you start throwing around that word.”
The 33-year-old actress added, “I can’t wait for ‘husband’ because then I can really throw my weight around. ‘My husband’s going to come down here and talk to you!’ That’s a huge threat.”
Ricci was previously engaged to Sullivan & Son star Owen Benjamin in 2009.
Christina Ricci was the first major cast member to sign on for the NBC pilot Girlfriend in a Coma back in February, but exited the series in March. Ricci was set to play Karen, a woman who spends nearly two decades in a coma after losing her virginity and awakens to find out that she has a 17-year-old daughter. iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove was cast as her daughter, Evie. The series is based on Douglas Coupland’s 1998 novel of the same name.
The series was set to be filmed in New York, where Ricci lives, but after her departure, it is unclear if production will be moved to Los Angeles. Why she left hasn’t been confirmed, but it was reported that she left following a table read.
