Benghazi Attackers To Guards: ‘We’re Here To Kill Americans’
The Benghazi attackers who stormed the US embassy on September 11, 2012 reportedly told the men guarding the building: “We’re here to kill Americans.”
The chilling account comes from a witness to the terrorist attack which claimed the lives of US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States.
The Westerner, a British security expert, who has not been identified to protect his identity, made the remarks during an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes”.
The man, who calls himself “Morgan Jones” and shows his face despite risks to his security, was hired to provide training to Libyan guards and overheard the Benghazi attackers say they were there to “kill Americans.”
“Jones” told CBS reporter Lara Logan he was annoyed because the U.S. State Department was not providing arms to the guards he was training and the situation in Libya was deteriorating.
The witness was not inside the compound when the terrorists arrived, but got a call from one of his guards and could tell the situation was serious.
“I could hear gunshots, and I and he said, ‘There’s, there’s men coming into the mission,'” Jones told “60 Minutes”. “His voice, he was, he was scared. You could tell he was really scared, and he was running. You could tell he was running.”
“Jones” said he called a State Department official inside the compound and asked what was going on and was told they were under attack. The British man wanted to know how many men were in the building and was told, “they’re all over.”
“And I was shocked. I didn’t know what to say. And I said, ‘Well, just keep fighting. I’m on my way.'”
According to “Jones” the Benghazi attackers told the guards, they were there for the Americans.
‘We’re here to kill Americans, not Libyans,’ so they’d give them a good beating, pistol whip them, beat them with their rifles and let them go,” Jones said of the Benghazi attackers.
The dramatic full interview of the witness to the Benghazi attack will air this Sunday at 7 pm on “60 Minutes.”
