Tom Cruise is the subject of new and scary Scientology claims in a scathing New York Post article — claiming that girlfriends were “auditioned” for the unlucky in love actor in the mid 2000s.
While Tom Cruise’s love life is often tabloid fodder, the paper claims that the actor’s then gal pal was heartbroken by the process — quoting Marc Headley, author of the “explosive” book Blown for Good: Behind the Iron Curtain of Scientology .
Headley’s dishing involves a wedding in 2010 where he and other “ex-Scientologists” met actress Nazanin Boniadi. Boniadi is said to have approached the author about a portion of the book describing alleged interviews to find a girlfriend for Tom Cruise.
According to the paper, Headley was a long-time employee of a branch of the strange religion and business hybrid — and during his 15-year tenure at Golden Era Productions, Headley claims he viewed “audition tapes” for the “position” of Cruise’s girlfriend.
The writer tells the Post :
“[Nazanin Boniadi] wants to know all about thse audition tapes… She’s like, ‘When did this take place?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t know, November, December 2004.’… She starts crying, gets up and runs out of the room. She was going out with Tom Cruise in December of 2004 — we were still auditioning girls then. That was Naz. That was the first time I ever met Naz.”
He continues:
“Based on her reaction, she was in love with the dude.”
The lengthy piece goes on to claim that Boniadi was seriously involved with Tom Cruise before his marriage to Katie Holmes — and, the paper says, before he had a friend break it off with her for him because she didn’t have enough star power and was not liked by Scientology head honcho David Miscavige. The pair even reportedly lived together before the split.
Many of the claims are not new, dating back to an older Vanity Fair piece to which the Church of Scientology responded. The group said of that report:
“The entire story appearing in Vanity Fair is hogwash. There was no project, secret or otherwise, ever conducted by the Church to find a bride [via audition or otherwise] for any member of the Church. Never.”
Boniadi herself is tight lipped on the Tom Cruise issue, as well as Scientology. She says:
“I’d rather not talk about that. It’s something that I’m not happy to… Like I said, I have so many positive things happening in my life, it’s a shame not to talk about that.”
Headley believes Boniadi wishes not to be linked publicly with Cruise, instead preferring to be recognized for her own achievements. He says:
“I don’t think Naz ever wanted [her relationship with Cruise] to get out,” Headley says. “I think what happened is she told one person and it spread. She doesn’t want to be famous for this.”
Tom Cruise and his people have not acknowledged the paper’s new Scientology piece, and none of the alleged audition tapes have been confirmed to have even existed.
