Twerking Outlawed! High School Makes Students Signs Dance Behavior Contract

Annapolis, MD – Twerking is absolutely outlawed for students of Annapolis High School where officials have decided to crack down on provocative dancing.

This year, the school is requiring all students who plan to attend school dances to sign, and to have their parents sign, a “dance contract” which outlaws twerking, grinding and other sexually-charged dance moves, reports CBS. Students who don’t sign will be denied entry, and if a student breaks the contract, they’ll be kicked out.

Students think that the contract is unnecessary, reports ABC 7.

“There is like some grinding, but that’s every school in the county,” said student Maddy Lupinek.

“There is a lot of stuff. People get away with a lot of things,” Chris Saltzman, another student, agreed.

But school officials think that asking students to not grind, twerk or touch each other intimately is perfectly reasonable.

“Dances have become more provocative in recent years, and we’ve had some issues at schools frankly,” said district official Bob Mosier.

“I think it’s fair, because some of the kids do need to tone it down,” said parent Nicole Harbor.

But students respond that the contract exists to answer fears about the virality of certain dance moves (like twerking), not because the students have actually become more provocative with their dancing.

“I know my parents would never know what that was, but now they know what twerking is,” said one student.

Parents who signed the contract doubt it will be terribly effective, as well.

“The schools have to do something, but whether it will be 100 percent successful…I doubt it,” said one.

The contract also includes a requirement about appropriate dress, asking students to not show excessive amounts of skin.

I’m just glad someone somewhere had the stones to outlaw twerking.
