Alec Baldwin Thinks ‘Rock Of Ages’ Was A ‘Complete Disaster’
Like many folks who paid good money to see last year’s box office bomb Rock of Ages, Alec Baldwin thinks the musical is a terrible motion picture.
Just because the former 30 Rock star appeared in director Adam Shankman’s adaptation of the Broadway musical doesn’t mean he has to like it. During his appearance at the American Magazine Media Conference in New York on Tuesday evening, Alec Baldwin let everyone know precisely how he felt about the flick.
After describing Rock of Ages as a “horrible movie,” Baldwin admitted he’d made a mistake by signing on to star in the picture. The Wrap reports that he didn’t have a problem admitting his misstep.
“It was a complete disaster. A week in you go, ‘Oh God, what have I done?’ The plane is buffeting, the engine is on fire,” he explained at the event.
According to The Huffington Post, Alec Baldwin only agreed to star in the musical to work with director Adam Shankman. Once he realized the movie wasn’t on the right track, he asked New Line Cinema to replace him. Despite his best efforts, the actor was essentially stuck with the decision he’d made.
Rock of Ages wasn’t the only movie Alec Baldwin took issue with during the American Magazine Media Conference this week. The busy actor also took aim at the film industry as a whole. In his humble opinion, people are a little bored with the films currently available at their neighborhood multiplex.
“Now people’s own lives are more interesting than what’s in the theaters. They only want Spider-Man,” Baldwin said. He added that superhero movies were a joke among Hollywood executives just a few decades ago. Baldwin admitted that times have changed since then.
Speaking of Alec Baldwin and superheroes, The Inquisitr previously reported that the actor was recently offered a role in a comic book flick. However, his wife’s pregnancy forced him to pass on the part. He refused to say which movie he approached to star in.
Baldwin told MTV News:
“I don’t want to undo somebody because they hired someone else to do it. But they asked me to play a villain in one of these Marvel movies. I wasn’t available; they wanted me to work a certain time. And because of my wife’s pregnancy, I had to turn down two films this summer that I wanted to do.”
