Jessica Lange To Leave ‘American Horror Story’
There’s no arguing that Jessica Lange is truly the essence of American Horror Story. Lange has exuded sass, poise, and a range of emotions on her two season run on American Horror Story. Coming up on the third season’s third episode, it’s being reported that Lange, 64, is done after next season.
We were a bit unsure about whether or not Jessica Lange would extend her contract past next season, given the details that were released in which Lange had only signed through to season four. Now we have our answer, and it looks like after next year, we’ll have to say goodbye to the fiercest lady of them all.
Lange sat down with the Los Angeles Times and explained that her career, which has spanned over four decades, is now coming to an end. Not only will we have to miss her talent on American Horror Story, but we probably won’t be seeing the legendary actress on the screen at all.
Jessica Lange told Los Angeles Times of her plans to close this chapter on her career:
“I am coming to the end of acting. I have a list: another stage production, maybe one or two more movies, one more season of American Horror Story, and then that is it for me. Because I think that’s enough. I want to go out with a bang, or should I say, a scare?”
However, don’t think that Jessica Lange isn’t grateful for the second wind that American Horror Story brought to her career. Of the show, Lange said:
“It reenergized me; it reenergized my career. There’s no shame in recognizing that. It’s exposed me to a whole new generation, which is a little strange. I’m not used to young people thinking I’m cool.”
In addition to her Emmy win for American Horror Story, she also received an Emmy for Grey Gardens. This season of American Horror Story you can catch Jessica Lange as a sassy witch.
