Angelina Jolie Shares News About Daughter Zahara's College Plans

Jolie captioned her post, “Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl. #spelman #spelmancollege #spelmansisters #HBCU”

The mother-daughter duo also attended a joint event between Spelman and Morehouse College for men, where the Oscar-winning actress was filmed busting out some dance moves (or at least attempting to).

Morehouse shared the video on their Instagram account with the caption, “We Love To See It! Angelina Jolie and Daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt, Incoming Spelmanite freshman, dances with Morehouse and Spelman Alumni at the Los Angeles Send Off for Incoming Freshman Students. SpelHouse SendOff is the opportunity to show our incoming students a glimpse of the family they are joining!”

In the clip, attendees doing the Electric Slide try to get Jolie to join them. She tries to at first and then goes off frame. She’s later seen again hugging Zahara.

Jolie shares Ethiopia-born Zahara with ex-husband Brad Pitt. She adopted her in 2005 when she was only six months old, and she’s the second child in the multicultural Jolie-Pitt family.

While interviewing Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate in 2020, the actress described Zahara as “an extraordinary African woman.”

“My daughter is from Ethiopia, one of my children … And I have learned so much from her,” she said. “She is my family, but she is an extraordinary African woman and her connection to her country, her continent, is her own and it's something I only stand back in awe of.”

Zahara was with her mother when the latter was in the Senate in February 2022 for the introduction of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act. Jolie posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, “I’m grateful and humbled to join with dedicated advocates and legislators. I’m also glad to share in the advocacy with Zahara — and for her presence to calm my nerves before today's press conference.”
