Chris Hemsworth And Brother Liam Are Competitive, Luke Keeps Them In Line
Chris Hemsworth admits he is very competitive when it comes to his brother Liam, he always likes to win. What about Luke? He’s the one that breaks the tension and brings some balance.
Chris, who is doing press promoting Thor: The Dark World said in a press conference on October 20:
“We’re competitive as siblings are, in everything from sport – backyard cricket and football – to who’s in control of the remote watching TV.”
Sounds like your typical rivalry when Chris adds of his younger brother, “You understand what it’s like to have that love/hate sort of thing where you’d do anything for them, but the simplest thing can annoy you.”
As to whether they are competitive when it comes to their jobs? “Not so much.” says the hunky Aussie.
“This industry? Not so much. Certainly all three of us understand the frailty and inconsistency of the work. We help each other with auditions and always have, with whatever scripts we’re working on. You’re not in direct competition anyway and it’s more of a team effort with this than with anything else
Chris Hemsworth says this is where they truly come together to help each other out and support the others’ careers.
The Hemsworth brothers, Luke, 31, Chris, 30, and Liam, 23 are so competitive that when they get in a car together, it’s also a “fight.”
“[It’s like], ‘You’re the worst driver! Go that way, it’s quicker’. ‘No, it’s not’. [Luke’s] the older brother and runs the show.”
In Thor: The Dark World Chris comes together with the villain in the film, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who is also Thor’s brother, but now they put their differences behind to fight a common enemy.
Chris was reminded of sibling rivalry while on set filming Thor.
“One of the scenes, where we’re in the space ship, Tom and are were pretty insistent that this has got to feel like when you’re in the back seat with your siblings. We couldn’t get 100 meters down the road before the three of us would be like ‘get off me, don’t touch me’.”
Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth have become very close friends, in fact Hiddleston calls Hemsworth “my brother from another mother.”
Hiddleston commented that he knew exactly what Chris was talking about since he has been on a road trip with him and Liam and has first hand experience of the fights.
“Then if you spend time with Luke he just knocks both their heads together and says ‘shut up boys'”.
Thor: The Dark World starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and Natalie Portman as Jane opens in theaters November 8.
