Throughout the history of war there have been many horrific events to take place that would make a person step back in shock. The Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, and much of the Middle East Crisis are just some of these events. One event that stands out is World War II’s Holocaust. The Inquisitr reported numerous times in reference to this tragedy. This includes a discovery of a death camp Nazis didn’t want found which may help fill out holes and gaps in history and Mahmoud Abbas ‘ denial of the Holocaust itself.

However, there are times when people — especially those who are popular — who will show insensitivity for this tragic moment. That is what Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs did during a trip to Germany. According to Sporting News , he, along with other NBA players, were partaking in the NBA Global Games. While not competing against the German professional teams, the players took to some sightseeing. One stop was at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin where Green decided to take the following selfie.

Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs is in hot water for the above selfie he took at the Holocaust Memorial in Germany.

Just by the picture above, it seems as if Danny Green was being insensitive. There are probably no “laugh out loud” moments pertaining to the genocide of millions of Jews and other people just because they didn’t fit in the plan of a dictator’s vision of a perfect world. Nevertheless, the picture was posted up on his Facebook page but was soon edited with the following new caption.

“A lot of history here, more than you can ever imagine… very sad/tragic things happened #holocaust #berlin.”

The edited caption however didn’t matter as Danny Green’s short lived words sparked enough outrage on social media even amid a flurry of apologies.

Despite the editing of the insensitive caption and a flurry of apologies, people were relentless in their comments.

According to The Blaze , the selfie has been deleted off of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media networks Danny Green may have. However, the damage may have been done. How this will effect Green’s career is uncertain but as of now he is heading to Istanbul to continue the NBA Global Games tour.

Now that you’ve read the report on Danny Green and his insensitive selfie, what do you think? Was he truly being insensitive or do you think it was just an honest mistake he is trying to man up to? Please let everyone know in the comments below.
