Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne still haven’t publicly said that they’re expecting a baby together, but Cheryl pretty much confirmed that she’s pregnant when she stepped out wearing a form-fitting sweater dress that showed off her prominent baby bump.
Cheryl Cole, 33, and Liam Payne, 23, have both had babies on the brain for a very long time, and they have similar ideas when it comes to baby names. They both like unisex names, and their favorite monikers evoke images of famous faces.
As SheKnows reports, Cheryl and Liam didn’t recently sit down together and do an interview about baby names — they both made comments on the topic years ago, and the news that Cheryl Cole is pregnant has renewed interested in their past comments. According to Sugarscape , Liam Payne explained why Taylor is his favorite baby name during a July 2012 interview with KRB Radio.
“I like the name Taylor. Taylor’s pretty neutral for a boy or a girl,” Payne said.
“That’s what I’m going to call my first child if I had children.”

The KRB Radio interview happened a few weeks after the first rumors of a romance between Taylor Swift and Liam Payne’s One Direction bandmate Harry Styles began circulating. As Hollywood Life reports, Liam and the other members of One Direction teased Harry about Taylor during an April 2012 interview.
Because of the rumors about Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, it’s possible that Liam Payne was thinking of Swift when he said that he planned on naming his first child Taylor. However, there’s also a chance that Twilight star Taylor Lautner was on his mind at the time. In March 2012, Payne did admit that he’s a fan of Lautner’s fit physique .
As Just Jared reports, Taylor Lautner has said that he has a huge crush on Cheryl Cole , so perhaps the actor would be flattered if she named her first child after him. However, Cheryl’s favorite baby name isn’t the same as her boyfriend’s top pick. In 2014, she told British GQ that she’s a fan of the name Alfie.
“I’d love kids. I’m obsessed with babies,” Cheryl said, according to Digital Spy .
“Of course I’ve thought about baby names a million times. I like Alfie for a little boy.”
“I know that’s what I was put on the Earth to do – to be a mother.”
Cheryl Cole didn’t reveal whether she likes the name Alfie for a boy because she’s a fan of either of the two movies of the same name. According to the Nameberry website, the moniker, which can be short for Alfred, has “a sexy, flirtatious image” because of the eponymous 1966 movie starring Michael Caine and the 2004 remake starring Jude Law.
While Cole says she likes the name for a boy, it’s also a popular name for a girl. It’s a variation of Alfreda , which means “elf power.”
According to People , Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne confirmed that they’ll soon have a baby to name on Tuesday when they attended the St. James Christmas Carol Concert in London. Cole was photographed wearing a tight green sweater dress underneath an unbuttoned black trench coat, and her pregnant belly was on full display.
Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne have been dating for about a year, with E! News reporting that they made their relationship Instagram official back in February. However, they’ve known each other much longer — a 14-year-old Liam met Cheryl for the first time when he auditioned for The X Factor UK in 2008. Liam gave Cheryl a flirty little wink while singing the Frank Sinatra classic “Fly Me to the Moon,” but his charm didn’t save him from being cut before the live shows. Liam tried again in 2010, and One Direction fans know how that turned out for him.
