Nintendo is aiming for global sales of 4 million Nintendo 3DS consoles by the end of March 2011.
Speaking at Nintendo World 2011, company president Satoru Iwata revealed the gaming giant wants to ship 1.5 million 3DS units in Japan, and another 2.5 million handhelds in North America and Europe when the console launches there.
Japan gets the 3DS on February 26th, meaning it will have a slight headstart on other territories, which are widely expected to get the portable in March. Official launch details for North America and Europe are being announced on January 19th.
Over the weekend, incidentally, Nintendo revealed its Japanese launch line-up. This selection is probably going to change a little for the western release, though I’d expect big names such as Nintendogs+Cats and Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle to stay put:
– Battle of the Giants: Dinosaurs 3D – Nintendogs+Cats – Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle – Puzzle Bobble 3D – Ridge Racer 3D – Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition – Samurai Warriors: Chronicle – Winning Eleven Soccer 3D
