You might think 4-years-old is way too young to have a bucket list, but that’s kind of the point behind this adorable, funny, poignant and heartbreaking viral video.
Prepare to have your hearts melted.
A bit of background on the video: The clip was created by the nonprofit activist group Water is Life, and is meant to draw attention to the importance of safe drinking water in Kenya. Not everyone in the African country has access to safe, potable drinking water, and as a result, many children die at a young age.
The video stars a 4-year-old Nkaitole, who has a “1 in 5 chance” of dying before the age of 5 due to unsafe drinking water.
The precocious Nkaitole has a bucket list, and Water is Life chose to document their efforts to help him cross every item off the list just in case he does die from conditions in Kenya.
“I’m going on an adventure,” Nkaitole says of venturing outside his village, called Amoboseli. “Traveling across Kenya … doing all the things I’ve always wanted to do.”
It’s a surreal and emotional video, but well worth your time. Since being published at the beginning of the month, the 4-year-old’s bucket list clip has gone viral with over 200,000 hits , and it keeps climbing.
Though his list is complete, Nkaitole is still counting on reaching adulthood. “One day I will be a Maasai warrior,” he says in the video.
