Jennifer Lopez is planning a triumphant return to American Idol.
Although she stepped away from the singing competition last season, Lopez is said to be in talks with the show’s producers. However, representatives from either party have yet to make an official announcement as of this this writing.
According to various sources, the singer may have already inked a deal with FOX. Some outlets are reporting that American Idol producers managed to lure Jennifer Lopez back to the program by waving a $15 million paycheck in her general direction.
If these rumors turn out to be true, then the Jenny from the Block singer took a $5 million cut from the last time she helped out with American Idol. She reportedly received around $20 million to serve as a judge on the show back in 2011.
As for those rumors that Lopez was turned down as both a judge and a performer on The Voice, an anonymous source recently told People that this never occurred.
“Jennifer never had discussions with NBC about being a judge. She was approached by NBC about performing but had to turn it down because of scheduling conflicts,” the insider dished.
However, Jennifer Lopez isn’t the only musician who is currently rumored to be joining the singing competition next season. Black Eyed Peas rapper will.i.am is also in talks with the folks at FOX. The producer and songwriter has already enjoyed a healthy run on the UK version of The Voice.
While the new judges won’t be properly announced until September, the network revealed during the Television Critics Association press tour that Keith Urban will return to the show next season. The country music star is the only judge currently slated to return.
“Keith is going to return to the show. The fans really liked him. Keith is a really funny guy,” Fox Entertainment chief Kevin Reilly explained.
