Terrence Howard Accused Of Assaulting Ex-Wife
Terrence Howard has been accused of assaulting his ex-wife during a recent trip to Costa Rica.
Michelle Ghent divorced Howard in May, but she took a trip to Costa Rica with him and several of his family members last week. Sources said the two got into an argument, and Howard assaulted Ghent.
The Hustle & Flow star claimed that Ghent maced him, his adult daughter, and another family member. Police were called, but no charges were filed. Sources said Howard made up the story to cover up the abuse. However, other sources said Ghent was lying about the physical abuse.
According to TMZ, Ghent is going to court to get a restraining order against the 44-year-old. Ghent previously said that Howard began beating her a week into their marriage. She said he “slugged” her across the face and neck and threatened to throw her off a balcony. Ghent said the abuse continued throughout the marriage, and that Howard chipped her tooth with his wedding ring. She also claimed he threatened to kill her if she told anyone his personal business.
Ghent and Howard married in a secret ceremony in January 2010. She filed for divorce in February 2011.
Michelle Ghent isn’t the first woman to accuse Terrence Howard of assault. In February 2009, the Smoking Gun reported that Howard was arrested in 2001 for attacking his first wife, Lori McCommas. Howard was charged with harassment and stalking, simple assault, and terrorist threats. He forced his way into her home by breaking in doors and chased her into the backyard. He then punched her twice in the face. The attack ended only after Howard’s brother stepped in. He pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace in 2002.
Howard was also arrested for assaulting a Continental Airlines flight attendant after he refused to return to his seat when the seat belt sign came on.
