Chris Hemsworth Talks About Switching From Fantasy To ‘Rush’
Chris Hemsworth has been playing fantasy roles for a while, but now he is getting ready to hit reality in Rush, the racing new film from director Ron Howard.
In the most recent issue of Total Film the Aussie star says that he was ready for the change.
“The focus was certainly to do something character based and rooted in reality,” the actor tells Total Film of Ron Howard’s latest project.
“I love the fantasy world that I was working in for Thor and Snow White And The Huntsman but, you know, I had it in spades. So something like this was essential, just for my own personal growth.” Hemsworth adds.
“When Rush came along, it ticked every box – from “working with” one of my favorite directors, to a story that instantly fascinated me. You have this incredibly exciting backdrop of Formula 1 and the sexiness and excitement of the ’70s, but with a beautiful character story at the center of it.” he finishes.
It looks as though Chris Hemsworth was ready for a change playing the sexy driver James Hunt.
The official plot line is as follows,
Rush portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed—handsome English playboy Hunt and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Niki Lauda. Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. If you make one mistake, you die.
Two time Academy Award winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon) once again teams up with two time Academy Award nominee writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen) to bring us non-stop action in this heart racing dramatization of the actual events.
Chris Hemsworth is joined by Daniel Bruhl (Inglourious Basterds) as Niki Lauda in Rush.
