Robin Thicke Surprised By ‘Blurred Lines’ Success
Robin Thicke is surprised by the success of Blurred Lines.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines grabbed more than 100 million views on YouTube.
Talking about Blurred Lines, Robin Thicke said, “We felt like maybe it was something special but it was so different. We didn’t know it would be this big.”
Previous singles from Robin Thicke have not done nearly as well, which makes the sudden success of Blurred Lines so surprising. To give you an idea, Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines now holds the distinction of having the highest number of listeners, beating the previous record of 188 million with a whopping 243 million.
Robin Thicke admits his last album “didn’t sell very well, in fact, not at all.” Robin Thicke realized the key to success was to not try and hog all the glory. So Robin Thicke decided he was “going to hire some of the great hit makers in the business and try to make some music everybody can enjoy instead of just my small fan base.” Robin Thicke chose will.i.am, Timbaland and Dr. Luke and the rest, as they say, is history.
So what has changed for Robin Thicke now that Blurred Lines is a success? Thicke says:
“What’s changed about my image the most with the song is that people actually know who I am now. People in the business might have known about me here or there, but the average person wouldn’t necessarily have known who I was or what my music was. When something this big happens, everybody goes, ‘Hey, that’s Robin Thicke!’ That’s cool.”
100 million views on the #BlurredLines video. Wow. #Grateful Can these sexy ladies win some moon men at the #vma's? http://t.co/0GKamJjMPg
