Ralph Macchio Still Looks Like ‘The Karate Kid’
Ralph Macchio is all grown up and now the father to a budding young actress, but the 51-year-old still looks distinctively like the Karate Kid of the 1980s.
Macchio was in New York to support his daughter Julia, a 21-year-old who has a small role in the movie Girl Most Likely. Ralph posed for photos on the red carpet, looking pretty much like the character Daniel from the Karate Kid series, only a bit older.
Now, in addition to acting, Ralph is playing supportive dad to Julia.
Before the event he tweeted: “#GirlMostLikely premiere. Big night for @JayMacch – Great job, my girl. Congrats!!”
He followed it up with: “Most incredible and rewarding night. May it be the first of many like this to come!”
Ralph Macchio seemed especially proud that his daughter has made her own way as an actress, not relying on his Hollywood connections..
“She has a little part in the movie she got all by herself—not through me!” he told People magazine.
For Ralph Macchio, the appearance was a far cry from the last time the Karate Kid was in the headlines. In late December, internet rumors spread that the actor had died in a Swiss snowboarding accident.
The report read:
“The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Ralph Macchio lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed … Ralph Macchio was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death.”
It turned out that the Ralph Macchio death hoax was one of several that came from an internet celebrity death generator, one that had a knack of fooling Twitter users by the thousands.
Luckily for his budding actress daughter and the many Karate Kid fans, Ralph Macchio is alive and well, and looking young as ever.
