2010 New England Patriots preview
This team was shattered by a loss in the NFL layoffs to teh Baltimore Ravens, in 2010 they return much of the same cast to try and prove that they can once again compete for a Super Bowl title. The Hoodie AKA Bill Belichick will run the show, and will not have an offensive or defensive coordinator. I don’t know if that will work, and the Patriots have gone the last two seasons without a playoff win. However we shall see if he can prove he is the ultimate football genius.
Of course the offense will be led by QB Tom Brady. I am unconvinced that the RB rotation of Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris, Fred Taylor, and Kevin Faulk can still get the job done. However running the ball is not exactly what this team does best anyways. Wes Welker, Torry Holt, and Randy Moss look to be the main receivers for this team, but a strong showing by Taylor Price might bump Holt off this team. The Offensive line is set except for RT where the job must be won in training camp.
The defense will run a base 3-4, and overall looks to be pretty good. On the D line a training camp battle will determine who starts at Right End. The line backing corps is pretty good with Derrick Burgess, Brandon Spikes, Jerod Mayo, and Tully Banta-Cain being the likely starters. The secondary is a nice mix of veterans and rookies with Leigh Bodden, and Darius Butler the starting corners with Devin McCourty waiting in the wings to win a starting job.
On special teams Stephen Gostkowski will be the kicker, and Zoltan Mesko will be the punter. Brandon Tate will return kicks, and Wes Welker of McCourty will return punts. Overall it is an above average unit.
