‘Hollywood Heights’ Star Cody Longo Arrested For DUI
Cody Longo, star of the Nickelodeon series Hollywood Heights, was arrested for drunk driving in Los Angeles this week.
The 25-year-old was pulled over around 2:30 am Thursday morning after police spotted him driving aggressively, following another car too closely, and flashing it with his high beams. When cops pulled Longo over, he smelled like alcohol. Longo performed several field sobriety tests, and failed. A source told TMZ that the actor’s blood alcohol was .19 and .20, more than twice the legal limit.
Longo was arrested and booked at a nearby police station, where he was later released after posting $15,000 bail. A representative for Longo said, “This was an unfortunate misunderstanding. Cody takes it very seriously as his focus is music and acting.”
Cody Longo plays Eddie Duran in the Nickelodeon drama Hollywood Heights, which is loosely based on the Mexican telenovela Alcanzar Una Estrella (Reach for a Star). The series follows an 18-year-old girl, Loren Tate (Brittany Underwood), who wants to become a singer-songwriter, but is also trying to decide whether she should go to college or not. Longo’s character is a 22-year-old rock star, who was once engaged to model Chloe Carter (Melissa Ordway). Longo’s character also acts as a mentor to Loren, and he eventually falls in love with her.
Longo has also appeared in Piranha 3D, Fame, Days of Our Lives, and Brothers Sisters. He also played Nicky Russo on ABC Family’s Make It Or Break It. He most recently appeared in the faith-based drama Not Today, which examines the global sex-slave trade. Longo played Caden, a spoiled rich kid who tries to save protagonist Annika (Persis Karen) from the world of human trafficking.
Cody Longo is also a singer, and released his debut single, “Atmosphere” on August 22, 2012. The song hit the iTunes top 100 pop chart that same day. He also released a new single, “She Said,” on iTunes on February 26, 2013.
