NBA 2K14 Puts LeBron James On The Cover [Video]
LeBron James has been chosen as the cover athlete for NBA 2K14, marking the Miami Heat superstar’s first video game cover appearance.
James will also play a role in a new mode called “Pass to Greatness.”
Pr-orders on the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of NB2k14 will receive the King James Bonus Pack DLC, which contains an extra 10,000 virtual currency (VC), extra content for the aforementioned “Pass to Greatness” mode, a James signature skill for MyPlayer mode, and and instant unlock of James in Blacktop mode.
NBA2K14 hits the Xbox360 and PS3 on October 1. 2K Sports Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations Jason Argent confirmed that Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game would also be available when the new consoles hit shelves.
“We will be day and date launch titles for both of those platforms,” Argent said.
However, NBA 2K14 for the Wii U won’t be happening in 2013, he said.
“We are not doing a Wii U version this year,” Argent said. “We decided internally that resources were best put towards building a current-gen and next-gen game.”
What makes the decision to forego the Wii U more surprising is the fact that NBA 2K13 was one of the launch titles for the console, and even took advantage of the Wii U’s controller display.
Argent also said that there would be some differences between the current-gen and next-gen versions, and that they would be “unique, distinct, and independent from each other.” He also said that LeBron James has been “actively involved in the development of the game” and has “been involved every step of the way.” Argent called the upcoming installment of the NBA 2K franchise 2K Sports’ “biggest endeavor yet.”
