Ex-Navy SEAL Runs For Senate Seat Of John Kerry: Who Is Gabriel Gomez?
As an ex-Navy SEAL runs for the former US Senate seat of Secretary of State John Kerry, some people are probably wondering who is Gabriel Gomez.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, during the Benghazi probe Secretary of State John Kerry was dismissive of the ongoing House Foreign Affairs Committee investigation, saying, “I don’t think anybody lied to anybody. And let’s find out exactly, together, what happened, because we need — we got a lot more important things to move on to and get done.”
John Kerry vacated his US Senate seat for Massachusetts in January when he became Secretary of State after Hillary Clinton. A special election will be held June 25 that will pit ex-Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez against long-time Democratic Congress member Ed Markey.
Ex-Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez won the Massachusetts Republican primary against former US Attorney Michael Sullivan and state Representative Daniel Winslow. Gabriel Gomez, a Republican from Cohasset, said in a statement Tuesd?y he entered the Senate seat race because he sees “a lot of unproductive noise and bickering” in Washington.
As an ex-Navy SEAL runs for the Senate, the media is already highlighting Gabriel Gomez’ past. Gabriel Gomez attended the Naval Acedemy from 1983 to earn a BS in systems engineering before switching to flight school. Gomez served four years on aircraft carriers before beginning his training as a Navy SEAL. Gabriel Gomez not only made it through Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, which has a 75 percent dropout rate, he became the class leader.
After leaving the Navy in 1996 ex-Navy Seal Gabriel Gomez attended Harvard Business school in order to become a private equity investor. This career was a success, with Gabriel Gomez earning more than $8.5 million between 2007 and 2011.
Gabriel Gomez actually ran in the Boston Marathon and was a witness to the Boston bombing. Gomez and his family only left the finishing line several minutes before the two bombs exploded. Gomez immediately pulled all his Senate campaign television ads and focused on the problems facing the area.
For a Republican, Gabriel Gomez is very progressive when it comes to social issues. He supports gay marriage and immigration reform. Gomez does personally oppose abortion, but he’s previously stated he would not actively seek to change current laws.
