Man Kills TV Host Greg Rodriguez

A Montana man shot and killed TV host Greg Rodriguez late last night.

According to police, Wayne Bengston shot the host of the Sportsman Channel show A Rifleman’s Journal after he found the host with his wife at his mother in law’s home on Thursday night. Bengston’s wife told police that the TV host was in town on business and had come to visit her.

The woman, who was not named by police, did not detail the nature of her relationship with Rodriguez but police believe that it was a professional relationship.

After allegedly killing Rodriguez, police say that Bengston beat his wife and then took his two-year old son to a relative’s house in West Glacier. Whitefish Police Chief Bill Dial described the beating as “brutal” saying that Rodriguez “pistol whipped” his wife. The boy was not injured in the incident.

Bengston left the boy at the relative’s house and then drove his truck back to his own home. Police said that Bengston took his own life shortly after returning to his home.

Dial said that Bengston did not have a criminal record and that it did not appear that he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the shooting.

In addition to being the host of A Rifleman’s Journal on the Sportsman Channel, Rodriguez was also the founder and CEO of Global Adventure Outfitters. Rodriguez also worked for Shooting Times Magazine.
