Drone Strikes To Kill US Citizens Are Legal On American Soil Says Eric Holder

Drone strikes to kill US citizens on American soil are legal according to Eric Holder, who represents the Obama administration. US Attorney General Eric Holder sent a letter to Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) on March 4 in which these stunning admissions were made public.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Senator Rand Paul wants the Obama administration to come clean as to whether it believes it has the authority to order such domestic drone strikes to kill US citizens. This came up after the FAA authorized the usage of drones over the US. President Obama has said he has no “intention” of deploying drones in America, but now it has become apparent that the President believes he has the legal authority to do so if necessary.

Senator Rand Paul was holding up the CIA confirmation hearings of John Brennan while demanding answers on whether the Obama administration would order drone strikes on Americans who are not actively engaging in violent terrorist acts:

“And I’m not talking about people engaged in lethal force. I’m talking about people city in a cafe having coffee. People like this are being killed around the world. We should not be doing this in America.”

In response, Eric Holder had this to say according to the Huffington Post:

“The question you have posed is therefore entirely hypothetical, unlikely to occur, and one we hope no president will ever have to confront. It is possible, I suppose, to imagine an extraordinary circumstance in which it would be necessary and appropriate under the Constitution and applicable laws of the United States for the President to authorize the military to use lethal force within the territory of the United States.”

Eric Holder went on to list circumstances like the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. According to CNN, this Eric Holder also says that the power to order drone strikes to kill US citizens on American soil would be limited to President Obama, with the CIA not having this ability.
