Unflattering photos of Beyonce from the Super Bowl have been circulating the web, which is not unusual after a live event in which screenshots can be taken from all and sundry with streaming web and a “print screen” button.
But the unflattering photos of Beyonce have upset the singer, one might imagine, or at least the publicist charged with tightly monitoring her reputation on the web.
The internet certainly gives bad pics of celebrities a whole new life, sparking memes, inviting mean comment threads, and even going viral when coupled with the right phrase. The unflattering Beyonce pics haven’t done so yet — but an emailed plea from the publicist is likely to have the opposite of the effect intended.
According to Gawker , Buzzfeed received a request (not a demand, a simple request) that the unflattering Beyonce photos be taken off their frequently-viewed site. The request read:
“Thanks for taking my call. As discussed, there are some unflattering photos on your current feed that we are respectfully asking you to change. I am certain that you will be able to find some better photos … The worst are #5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 19 and 22.”
While it was framed as a request, it’s also a bit pushy the woman — signing her name as “Yvette,” — also assumed BuzzFeed would “find some better photos” for the post.
And. if we know anything about the internet, the quickest way to pique its attention is to tell it not to look at any one thing — so it’s likely unflattering Beyonce pictures will achieve epic meme status in a matter of days, if that.
