Funeral Turns Into Party After 101-Year-Old ‘Dead’ Woman Wakes Up
A sad occasion turned into a celebration this week in China when a 101-year-old Cantonese woman woke up in her casket.
According to the China.org, Peng Xiuhua “passed away” on January 19.
Xiuhua reportedly took a fall last month and hurt herself. Her two daughters, both in their 70s, came to Xiuhua’s house to take care of her. On the night of January 19, they went into their mother’s room and discovered that she had no pulse.
Xiuhua’s two daughters then started to plan the funeral. The got a coffin, found a burial site, bought food, and sent out invitations. But when the 101-year-old woman was placed into her coffin, her two daughters were shocked to see Xiuhau smiling up at them.
Xiuhua reportedly said: “Hello there.”
The woman’s two daughters immediately cancelled the funeral. But since they had all the food and drinks and since all of Xiuhua’s friends and family were on their way to the funeral home, they decided to have a party instead.
The 101-year-old woman told Mercy Johnson:
“I am a lucky woman … Not only did I get to see how many people care for me, but I also woke up before they took me to the crematorium.”
The cause of Peng Xiuhua’s death, and undeath, are not known at this time.
