Miley Cyrus Signs To RCA Records Promises Edgier Sound
While we were busy figuring out whether or not Miley Cyrus was married or not to Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus was making an important decision for her career. The actress-sometimes singer has officially signed with RCA label, which used to be home to Christina Aguilera.
Cyrus has said in the past that she wants to focus more on her music career, and this seems like a way to do just that. It seems as though she’s getting all of her ducks in a row.
Who can blame Miley? Her 2010 album Can’t Be Tamed left Miley without representation after it received a lackluster response. After the bomb that was her 2010 album, Cyrus parted ways with Hollywood Records, which left her an opportunity to expand her choices and pop sound. So far, it seems like she’s doing just that.
Cyrus told Billboard magazine at the IHeartRadio Festival that she was working with hip-hop producer Pharrell Williams, who made Justin Timberlake rise to the top on his solo debut. In addition, Cyrus is working with Hit-Boy and Da Internz, who worked on Rihanna’s songs including “Birthday Cake.” It seems like Miley is after that edgier R&B Pop sound that’s dominating top 40 as of right now, which means she might have a hit album on her hands when she decides to release it with RCA.
However, the question is if RCA has wiped her slate clean for a new album and if those songs she was working on back in September will make it on the album. Knowing the talented producers Cyrus was working with, we sure hope so. The album does look promising though. Cyrus told Cosmopolitan:
“I wrote this song with Mary J. Blige, and Tyler, the Creator heard it and said, ‘I am obsessed with this song, and I will guest on it if you promise me that you will keep it on the album with RCA'”
Her album is said to come out later this year.
