George Clooney Picks Up Stranger’s Tab In Germany
Actor George Clooney picked up a stranger’s tab in a restaurant in Berlin, Germany, it has been reported.
George Clooney is definitely somewhat of a very modern gentleman, and the stately actor is probably the type of guy you’d expect to engage in random acts of awesomeness.
Clooney was dining at the Berlin hotspot with a group of friends of his own, and it is reported that the actor feared he and his buddies had been raucous dining mates during the meal out. UPI reports that George then decided to pay for a nearby table’s bill, in case the Clooney party antics proved disruptive to fellow diners.
The site says:
“The man, whose name was not released, told the Bild newspaper he was eating Friday evening at the Grill Royal restaurant in Berlin and was told by his waiter his $134.66 bill had been covered by Clooney, who had been dining with friends at the next table, The Local.de reported Monday.”
So what were George Clooney and his pals up to that prompted him to pick up a stranger’s bill? Actually, nothing — unless George purchased the stunned diner’s silence as well as his meal.
The patron, who did not identify himself to press, said:
“That’s not true at all. They had behaved in a very cultivated manner. I was stunned.”
The diner was not starstruck either. He says he didn’t even place the famous Ocean’s Eleven star until Clooney and his entourage had vacated the premises. After the kindness was realized, the man said he left a card for Clooney for picking up his bill, hoping to return the favor in the future.
