Local Pastor Among The Victims In Albuquerque Shootings: 15-Year-Old Son Arrested
As The Inquisitr reported earlier, there has been a horrific shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico that left five people dead including three young children between 2 and 9 years of age. According to friends who knew him, one of the victim’s was Greg Griego, a popular local pastor, who was killed along with his wife Sarah Griego and three other members of his family.
The shooter has now been identified by Sheriff’s spokesman Aaron Williamson as 15-year-old Nehemiah Griego, the son of victim Greg Griego. The young man was arrested and booked for two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death. All the victims received multiple gunshot wounds.
Police also revealed the home where the victims were found belonged to Greg and Sarah Griego. Greg Griego was the chaplain for the Albuquerque Fire Department and established several prison ministries. According to information in his biography, Greg Griego and his wife, Sarah, had 10 children.
Albuquerque Fire Chief James Breen released a brief statement about Pastor Griego:
“Chaplain Griego was a dedicated professional that passionately served his fellow man and the firefighters of this community. His calming spirit and gentle nature will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Greg’s extended family.”
Steve Stucker, a local weatherman with KOB-TV in Albuquerque, acknowledged his friendship with Greg Griego on his Facebook page. Stucker posted a moving tribute to the fallen Pastor:
“Greg was an ex con and former Gangbanger who Completely turned his life around through his Faith in Jesus. Greg, with the full support & blessing of his wife and family, spent the rest of his life visiting Jails & Prisons, sharing his story and changing Lives through the Love of Christ. I can’t pretend to speak for him…but I KNOW he would have asked us to Forgive the one who did this awful thing, because he never thought it was too late to change a person’s heart & mind.”

In a statement late Sunday evening, the sheriff’s office identified the victims as Greg Griego, 51, his wife Sara Griego, 40, and three of their children: a 9-year-old boy, Zephania Griego, and daughters Jael Griego, 5, and Angelina Griego, 2.
