Will Ferrell Mustache: Actor Prepares For ‘Anchorman 2’
Will Ferrell has grown the famous mustache sported by Ron Burgundy for the upcoming sequel to his hit 2004 comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, according to UPI.
The sequel to the hit film will find Burgundy learning to cope with the evolution of journalism. In addition to the delivering breaking news, the anchorman and his team will enter the world of celebrity interviews.
“We are going to focus on and comment on the transition from what was kind of traditional news to where entertainment forces started melding in, and Ron’s going to be one of the catalysts of that,” the actor explained.
In order to prepare for the role, Will Ferrell grew the mustache made famous by the first installment in the series. ABC News reports that the star is frequently approached by people on the street curious about the authenticity of the aforementioned soup strainer.
“I’m surprised by how many people have walked up to me and asked, ‘Is that mustache real?’ Of course, I say, ‘Yes, why would I be wearing a fake mustache?’ I mean, why would I be walking around wearing a fake mustache?” Ferrell said.
Details surrounding the forthcoming follow-up are sketchy, though director Adam McKay did offer up the following tidbit of info regarding the sequel.
“The only thing I can tell you for sure is that the movie will be filmed entirely in English,” the director jokingly revealed.
According to Internet Movie Database, co-stars Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner will return for Anchorman: The Legend Continues. It’s currently unknown when the film will find its way onto the big screen.
Next summer, Will Ferrell will join Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn for Shawn Levy’s The Internship. The film follows a group of 40-somethings who decide to work as interns at a successful internet company run by people in their 20s.
