‘DWTS’ Finale: Normani Kordei Leaves Lady Gaga, Tamar Braxton, And More Outraged
Normani Kordei’s surprising third place finish on Dancing With the Stars has fans outraged, including a few famous faces.
After it was revealed that Normani and partner Val Chmerkovskiy would not be taking home the mirrorball trophy and instead came in third place during the Season 24 finale on May 23, fans flocked to social media to express their outrage including Lady Gaga, Tamar Braxton, Zendaya, and Sarah Hyland.
Lady Gaga proved that she wasn’t too pleased to see Normani and Val take third place on social media. The pop star liked a tweet by a fan showing Kordei’s Fifth Harmony bandmates Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane looking seriously displeased in the DWTS audience, with Ally even appeared to wipe away a tear.
According to a screen shot captured by Pop Crave, singer Tamar Braxton – who competed on the show with Val in 2015 but had to withdraw due to medical issues – also reacted with outrage to the news, posting and then deleting a tweet in which she claimed Dancing With the Stars “sucks.”
“Wtf [angry face emoji] they REALLY tried my boo [Val and Normani] really?? #dwtsfinale. This sucks [thumbs down emoji] booooooooooooooooooo,” Braxton wrote, though she has since deleted her initial tweet and replaced it with a more politically correct message regarding the DWTS finale.
“My nerves are bad goodnight. Congrats to the winner. I’m biased obviously #dwtsfinale,” Tamar then wrote of Normani and Val’s loss.
Singer Alessia Cara also made it clear that she thought Normani should have gone home the big with the mirrorball trophy during the Dancing With the Stars 2017 finale, tweeting that she felt Kordei was the rightful winner.
“Also @NormaniKordei ur a winner x100!!!,” she tweeted out following Kordei’s surprising Dancing With the Stars elimination, which came just weeks after Normani fans accused the show of being “rigged” against the Fifth Harmony star.
Actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld also threw her support behind Normani Kordei following her third place finish on DWTS by replying to Alessia’s tweet, “I second this!!!!!!”
“They just Me’d my baby girl @NormaniKordei nah….” Zendaya wrote of the DWTS drama, and Sarah Hyland added, “if the winner was supposed to be the BEST dancer? My girl @NormaniKordei should have won.”
Kordei’s legions of fans took to Twitter to vent their frustrations after she and Val came in third place, as professional dancer Sharna Burgess tweeted that she was getting a whole lot of hate from Fifth Harmony fans over the surprising result.
Sharna, who was partnered with Bonner Bolton – who sweetly asked Normani on a date during the competition – tweeted that Fifth Harmony fans were throwing a whole lot of shade in her direction via social media in the wake of the finale.
“Why [is] my feed blown up with harmonizers hatin on me because Normani didn’t win… lol?” the DWTS pro asked of the reaction from Normani and Fifth Harmony fans. “You should’ve voted as much as you throw shade.”
Notably, Normani’s loss came as a shock to fans after the pop star consistently got great scores and feedback from the judges throughout the season.
Dancing With the Stars professional Maksim Chmerkovskiy even revealed in an interview ahead of the DWTS finale that he believed Normani had the win in the bag because of her impressive skills on the dancefloor and her huge and dedicated fan base as one-fourth of Fifth Harmony.
“You know we look at our elimination and clearly it’s not only about dance, it’s about the whole appeal,” Chmerkovskiy told Entertainment Tonight, referring to his very early and shocking elimination with partner Heather Morris earlier this season.
“I think that overall, Normani has, like, a full package,” the DWTS pro continued of Kordei. “Fan base and dancing and the personality and everything that Dancing With the Stars champions are sort of supposed to look like.”
What do you think of the reaction to Normani Kordei’s third-place finish on Dancing With the Stars? Was it fair or did she deserve to win the show?
