John Cena And Nikki Bella Blasted By Former Champion, Says It’s Good ‘They’re Both Gone’ Right Now

Current WWE superstars John Cena and Nikki Bella have been away from the wrestling world since WrestleMania 33, and one superstar says that’s a good thing. The WWE’s power couple is on a hiatus ever since defeating the “It Couple” at a mixed tag team match on “the grandest stage of them all.” That victory also brought about Cena’s big in-ring proposal to his real life girlfriend, Nikki Bella. With that, the duo seemed to walk off into the sunset of their busy personal lives. One superstar is more than happy to see them away from the Raw or SmackDown Live scene.

That superstar is none other than one of the members of the current top couple in wrestling since Cena and Bella have stepped away. As Wrestling Inc brought to light, The Miz went on record in a recent interview to discuss a number of topics including the WWE Intercontinental Championship, as well as Cena and Bella. During the interview with WWE Fan France(video below), Miz was asked to give one good thing about the couple. In typical Miz fashion, he seemed to keep with his heel persona and mentioned how great it was they weren’t around right now.

“One good thing about Nikki Bella and one good thing about John Cena? They’re both gone from the WWE right now. There’s your good thing for both of them. Oh, you’re a big John Cena fan? Are you gonna cry because he’s not gonna be at the show today? What are you five?”

The Miz touches upon the notion that Cena’s fan base mostly consisted of young children during his time with WWE. However, he may be truly happy that the two aren’t around as it gives he and his wife Maryse time to shine. The couple was moved over to WWE’s Raw roster with the big “Superstar Shakeup,” and Miz is now embroiled in another feud with current WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose.

Miz who is a multiple-time Intercontinental champion spoke on the importance of that title to him since his arrival to the WWE.

“As a kid, growing up, my heroes all had the Intercontinental Championship. Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Mr. Perfect, Ric Rude, all of them. And they were the people I looked up to and wanted to be like.”

The six-time Intercontinental Champion noted that he wanted to hold that title in the ranks of the WWE and try to help make it prestigious like those former legends have. He’s also held the WWE Championship, United States Championship, and tag team titles during his professional wrestling career which has now spanned 14 years.

Whether or not Miz was truly happy to see John Cena away from the ring, or simply staying in character, it certainly gives some more spotlight to other stars. While The Miz plays a heel, he tends to do it well and has received praise from various wrestling fans for that ability. His in-ring skills have not been considered the best in the business, but he and his wife Maryse have certainly done great work regarding the heel storytelling and entertainment aspects.

As for John Cena and Nikki Bella, it seems unlikely they will be away “forever” as The Miz and his wife Maryse tried to imply on a SmackDown Live episode after their WrestleMania loss. It’s been reported by various sources including Forbes that Cena will make a return to the ring just in time for the Fourth of July.

The WWE superstar will reportedly appear at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona for the July 4th SmackDown Live show. There is no official news on when Nikki Bella might return, as she is likely worried about her wedding ceremony, Total Divas, and being an aunt to her sister Brie’s new baby.

As far as Cena’s next feud, that’s not yet known, but with John Cena on SmackDown, The Miz won’t have to worry about trying to get some of the spotlight from him on Raw.
