WWE News: Goldberg, Roman Reigns, And Brock Lesnar Among ‘Royal Rumble’ Favorites For Most Eliminations
The latest WWE news ahead of the Royal Rumble 2017 pay-per-view involves an interesting aspect of the big elimination match in January. While the winner of the match each year is always speculated on by fans and analysts, there’s another category that’s bet on. It involves which superstar will get the most eliminations in the match. Could it be Bill Goldberg, Roman Reigns, or Braun Strowman who tosses the most competitors out of the ring for the WWE Royal Rumble?
On Monday, WWE Leaks reported that Royal Rumble prop bet odds for the most eliminations in the match were posted via Paddy Power. Right now a tie exists between two superstars to get the most eliminations in the match. Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns each have 3 to 1 odds, leading all competitors. Brock Lesnar is second on the listing with 5 to 1 odds, while his rival Bill Goldberg has 6 to 1 odds to have the most eliminations in the match.
In the 2015 Royal Rumble, three superstars tied with the most eliminations for the match. Bray Wyatt, Rusev, and Roman Reigns each had six eliminations during the match. Reigns ultimately became the winner, which was an unpopular decision based on the crowd’s reaction. Big Show had five eliminations while Kane had four during their latest attempt to win the Rumble match.
For the 2016 edition of the annual WWE match, Braun Strowman seems like a smart choice just based on his recent destructive path. He has obliterated the likes of Sami Zayn, Sin Cara, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns within just a few nights this past week. While Zayn survived a 10-minute timed match against Strowman at Sunday’s WWE Roadblock pay-per-view, Strowman tossed him around like he was nothing. He did the same to Sin Cara, simply tossing him off the stage during Monday Night Raw through a Christmas tree and fake wrapped presents.
Goldberg and Brock Lesnar each make sense as well, as those two are expected to make a big impact. It’s also expected that they will somehow get involved in a fight with one another that leads to a huge match down the road. There are those ongoing rumors that they’ll meet again for their third match at WrestleMania 33. In the case of Goldberg, he could be one of the early entries, either No. 1 or No. 2, and get a lot of eliminations before Brock somehow finds a way to take him out. Or it could be Brock going on a rampage in the match.
In terms of Roman Reigns, he hasn’t been officially announced as an entrant for the WWE Royal Rumble match. According to ProWrestling, on Monday’s Raw episode, Mick Foley announced Reigns will be participating in a WWE Universal Championship match against Kevin Owens. This time around Chris Jericho will be hoisted above the ring in a shark cage so he can’t interfere. So Reigns may not even participate in the Rumble itself based on this other title match.
That said, WWE Royal Rumble rumors were discussed in a report here at Inquisitr about how Chris Jericho could win the Rumble match. Most likely, the WWE Universal Championship match should take place before the Rumble match. Jericho will be hanging in a cage above the ring to watch as his friend Kevin Owens has to find a way to win without him against Reigns. There’s been speculation that Braun Strowman could get involved in this title match, costing Reigns the win and setting up a feud between the two superstars for down the road.
As of this report, Goldberg still leads the betting odds at 5 to 2 in terms of favorite to win the Royal Rumble. However, Chris Jericho has moved into second place on the list now in a tie with Finn Balor at 3 to 1 odds. John Cena is next on the betting odds for favorites at 5 to 1, while Roman Reigns rounds out the top five with 8 to 1 odds.
WWE fans, do you think that Braun Strowman will get the most eliminations of all competitors in the WWE Royal Rumble 2017 edition? Will Goldberg and Brock Lesnar record a lot of eliminations? Who will win the match?
