‘Rogue One’: Luke Skywalker Actor Mark Hamill Weighs In On ‘Star Wars’ Film, Movie Scores Big
By now, Star Wars fans have flocked to theaters to see Rogue One.
The highly anticipated movie opened up over the weekend, and predictions were high that the movie was going to do extremely well. Some would say that the movie was already on its way to being a hit because of its previous installments, but it seems as though the film is much more than another cash grab.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story takes place before A New Hope. A team of rebels obtains the plans for the infamous Death Star, and many events take place along the movie that leave fans at the edge of their seats. According to Movie Web, the amount of sales has been extremely high. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story raked in $155.5 million in a domestic setting. $290.5 million was made worldwide, meaning that the film was overall successful.

It appears that fans and critics alike are praising the movie. Part of that praise comes from famous actors. One such actor is Mark Hamill, who plays the iconic Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies. If you were wondering what his thoughts were on the movie as a whole, you don’t have to look further than social media.
If you’d want anyone to approve of a Star Wars film, it’s Mark Hamill. Luckily, Hamill’s words reflect approval and more. He seems to have nothing but praise for Rogue One. Taking to Twitter, Hamill makes statements in regards to the latest installment in the Star Wars universe.
“Perfect Cast Astonishing Action Non-Stop Thrills Grabs U from the 1st frame & never let’s go! Not just a great #SWMovie A #GreatMovie PERIOD!” Mark tweeted out.
It’s quite the accolade to receive such praise from Mark Hamill. The movie revolves around actress Felicity Jones, alongside others who band together to fight the Empire. Some are even calling it a prequel that many have been waiting for, bringing even more glory to the 1977 A New Hope movie.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Rogue One decimated other films at the weekend box office. If Mark Hamill’s words aren’t enough to convince you to see the movie, the numbers should speak for themselves.
Dave Hollis, Disney’s distribution chief, had this to say about Rogue One and its success.
“This is the start you hope for. This is the start you wish for. We’re ecstatic about the very excited response from audiences.”
Rogue One was considered a possible hit or miss before the movie hit theaters. With Disney at the forefront of Star Wars and having many who are skeptic about their ability to make it more than mediocre, Rogue One could be a catalyst and give fans hope that further installments will reflect fan and actor praise alike.
Hollis continued in his discussion about the Star Wars film, namely the importance of hitting the mark that fans expect.
“This was a little bit of a litmus test of what these standalone films can mean, both storytelling-wise and commercially,” Hollis stated. “But the bar that we have to hit is very high.”
No doubt, Disney will be under quite a bit of scrutiny with its next project. Mark Hamill doesn’t make an appearance in Rogue One, but it’s been said that he will be making his appearance in a new Star Wars film scheduled to be released at a later time. Of course, time will tell if Disney and Lucas will fill the shoes of installments that came before.
